Literacy
This term the pupils will begin by focusing on descriptive writing using their five senses. We will be using 2nd and 3rd level criteria to describe characters and settings. Pupils all have individual targets to work on to improve their writing and these will be continued
to be focused on. We will then move onto diary writing as a genre.
Pupils will continue to take part in the accelerated reading programme through daily reading. In class we will be looking at alternative authors to extend reading.
Numeracy and Maths
We will be recapping on basic maths sums using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will be developing skills to remember our times tables then using this
knowledge in a variety of work.
The pupils will be looking at measurement converting between mm, cm, m and km and
number processes.
We will also be looking at fractions, 2D shape and 3D objects.
PE
The pupils will be doing a number of physical activities including rounder’s, tennis, Zumba and core strength tasks.
French
We will be building vocabulary and sentences as well as learning about the culture of France.
Expressive Arts
This term our focus will be arts and crafts. We will be looking at a variety of artists and designers creating work using similar styles and techniques.
Science
The pupils will be exploring microorganisms and chemical reactions.
Health and Wellbeing
This term we will be looking at growing up and the changes this brings with it. We will also be looking at self-esteem and positive role models.
Technology
We will be using ICT to find facts about gods and goddesses and countries from around the world.
Social studies
This term we will be learning about countries, flags, continents and capital cities. We will be looking at Scotland’s landscape and history.
