Literacy and English

Initial activities will centre on various stories relating to school. We will discuss different aspects of the story and link it to our weather topic.

We will focus on magic E words in our spelling and remind children of the various phonics and spelling rules previously learned. Children will practise sounding out words and encouraged to use a wider vocabulary in writing. Pupils will be focusing on descriptive writing looking at details to include. Also grammar and punctuation that can be used to make writing more interesting.

In reading pupils will continue with their decoding skills using phonics knowledge, learn about predicting and visualising stories. They will also be part of Accelerated Reader.
