Thank you to those of you who have contributed to this website, or told us what you need from it.
Our aim has been to provide something that:
- is simple
- is easy to manage
- complements other channels (like social media, Seesaw, and the newsletter) rather than competing with them
- meets the needs of parents (current and future)
Our decisions about what content to add first were based on a survey we ran to help understand what parents need.
We asked parents to rate their level of need from 0 (I have no need for this) to 4 (I have a strong need for this).
We learned that parents:
…need a website to provide contact details for the school

…want news and announcements to be published on a website

…have a strong need for a calendar of key dates

…expect some information about school staff

…have some need for information about joining the school and transition to the high school

…would like to see notes from school meetings and school documents

We also heard that:
- some expected a website to provide information about ordering school uniforms
- some hoped that the website will be helpful as a tool to attract staff to the school
- some parents expected to find information about clubs and activities available to children
- parents had a lower need for the website to share school work and updates about classroom activities (possibly because this is already well served by Seesaw)
Of course, this website will succeed or fail according to how well it continues to do what you need it to do.
We expect it to change over time, and we’d welcome your feedback and ideas about what else it should or could be used for.
